Entry #4. Qubo

 Qubo

Growing up, I never could have cable, so I didn't have the benefits of watching Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon. Instead, my siblings and I would watch Qubo as it was available for free. Some people missed out on experiencing some of the best cartoons ever created. When I was younger, I would wake up in the middle of the night because I would have nightmares or just couldn't sleep, but instead of trying to go to sleep, I would turn on the TV at the lowest volume possible and just start watching Qubo. I remember all the times my mom would yell at me because I would leave the TV on afterward. I just wish more people could experience the greatness of what Qubo was.

Qubo was a children's channel that was created in 2006. Unfortunately, the channel was discontinued in 2021 after airing for 14 years. Qubo was home to many TV shows like Jacob Two-Two, Being Ian, and Turbo Dogs. I remember the channel being streamed for 24 hours meaning that you can watch your favorite shows at any time. The best part of Qubo was that it had a SAP option. SAP stands for second audio programming, which in this case was Spanish. This option helps you learn different languages as you can listen to your favorite shows in both English and Spanish making it easier to understand both languages. My favorite show on Qubo had to be Being Ian, it was about a kid who thinks he is a director and has a huge imagination which often gets him in trouble, It was very entertaining to watch what he saw when he was filming normal things. Another show I enjoyed watching was Artzooka which was a show where you can create many art projects with recycled materials. I liked it because he would create these amazing things out of paper, clay, or cardboard, he would also make different animations where he would add different items for the viewer to find. Qubo was not only entertaining it was also useful in learning how to create things and helping us learn a language.

Now Qubo is nostalgic just by thinking about it, I spent most of my childhood watching it and I was sad when they discontinued the channel. The best things in life don't always have to be bought, you can enjoy anything if you try. I would never have thought that I would miss a kid's channel so much until today. In my opinion, Qubo is the best kids' channel, way better than Disney and Cartoon Network.

  1. I can say I grew up watching quo and say it was an amazing channel. It was cool because it was a free channel and many people weren't as fortunate enough to be able to pay for certain channels.

  3. Sadly, I've never watched qubo. I never really watched that much tv growing up anyway, but I am sure there was good kid shows on there. I think it's pretty neat the part where you mentioned sap. I never really knew something like that exist. I enjoyed your blog because you taught me something new!
