Entry #5. AllState Mayham Cat
AllState Mayhem Cat
Like every advertisement ever created, this is intended to sell a product or service to its customers. The author wants the viewer to understand that anything could happen that will affect your insurance, in this instance bringing home a new "cat", they may be cute at first but later they can do things that can be costly. This ad is intended majority for homeowners or older people to feel a sense of connectedness as this might be something they can relate to, with Allstate they wouldn't have to worry about all that Mayhem.
Humor is one way that Allstate tries to grab the audience's attention. The actor pretending to be the cat is intended to be funny to give the audience a better idea of what can happen. They also use relatability, relatability is a big part of this commercial because it builds trust between the viewers and the company. Many people could relate to getting a new cat or pet in general, they feel connected to this ad as they have also dealt with this situation.
In the ad, you can see the owners not paying attention to what the "cat" is doing until he causes a huge incident. That incident wouldn't need to be fixed out of pocket if you don't have Allstate according to the ad. He states," Get AllState and be better protected from Mayhem, like meow". Signifying that those incidents can be avoided if your secured with Allstate.
Don't forget to invite the reader into the conversation before jumping right into the ad/analysis. You didn’t use the the main character’s name, Mayhem, in this post; this is an important detail that should be considered here.
