Entry #6. Edicion Especial
Edicion Especial
My favorite band in Spanish is Edicion Especial. This is my favorite band because they have a different rhythm and voice to their music that makes them unique. The first time I listened to their music I thought their music was boring, but as time went on and I started to listen to them more and more, they sort of grew on me and became my favorite band. I don't only listen to Spanish music but because I live in a Mexican household they play Spanish music all the time. On July 22, my brother and I bought tickets to their concert and they sounded even better in person. Arturo Villa, the main singer and accordionist, was one of the main reasons why I wanted to play the accordion but I later found out it wasn't that easy and I gave it up. Edicion Especial is not for everyone but for me, they are my favorite Spanish artists.
Edicion Especial is a Spanish band that originated from Culiacan, Sinaloa. They are very well known in different parts of Mexico and some parts of the U.S. Their band name, Edicion Especial, means special edition in English. The band is composed of Arturo Villa (Singer and accordionist), Christian Valenzuela Villa (drummer), Gil Lizarraga (Bass player), and Jesus Alan Obeso (lower sixth). The singer and drummer are cousins while the other two are close friends. Andy Bernal was their previous bass player but unfortunately, he passed away due to kidney failure, Gil Lizarraga was later given the role of bass player. They often write their songs about people with high authority in Mexico, but they are most known for their love songs. They also have made hits with many different artists like Grupo Firme and Fuerza Regida. Their most famous song is "Si Es Possible" with 90 million plays on Spotify and BackPack with 50 million. They have 3.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify and they will continue to grow as they travel to the U.S. and Mexico to sell out venues.
Overall, Spanish music isn't for everyone but for me, I enjoy the music of Edicion Especial. They are not as big as other bands but they are well known in Mexico. They play in small venues but they do sell out fast. This also proves to never judge a book by its cover, at first I was not a huge fan of them but now they are my favorite band. One bad song doesn't determine the whole band. This is why Edicion Especial is my favorite Spanish band.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you included a link to this band so I could listen to them while I read the post. It brought the entry to life and was so much more engaging to read because of it.
